Essential Garment Samples Every Clothing Manufacturer Needs

The Garment Sample Guide: Types & Uses for Seamless Production

Are you planning to get your clothing manufacturing into the production line? Well, in the clothing manufacturing world, the journey from the concept to the final production works through several steps. And there are several stages that we must have to see through before sending the sample for the final production run.

As a clothing manufacturer, these processes act as a physical representation of the design, allowing for smooth development before mass production runs. Whether you are a newcomer or a pro of the fashion world, these processes help in bringing the dream design to life while avoiding costly mistakes.

So, let's explore this guide where we walk through the essential garment sample you need at every stage of garment sampling.

·         Prototypes (First Samples)

Prototypes are the initial sample, from which the whole production process depends. The main purpose of this simple is to see the fabric material, weight, or quality. The fabric color and print are not taken into consideration in this sample.

Whereas, the prototype allows the quick assessment of the design, silhouette, and drape and also helps in identifying the potential issues before investing in the production process.

·         Fit Samples

As the name suggests, fit samples are used to bring the ideal fit and silhouette demand by the brand. This sample is another important in the clothing design, all it requires is a spec sheet that contains all the measurement and design specifications. The spec sheet made the sample according to the given measurements. However, several revisions can be done to achieve the desired results.

The fit sample can be made from a similar fabric as the brand wanted to have for the final production result. This sample allows for the detailed orientation of the garment, evaluating the areas required for the adjustment and overall wearability of the garment.

·         Size Sets Samples

Size set samples represent the collection of samples available in specific sizes and designs in various formats. If the sample is found with any fit issues during the production process, then they make changes including the grading of the pattern to ensure the perfect fit.

Size sets samples include the three samples of each size which are made with the stitching or the finishing element or usually found with the various color combos.

·         Pre-Production Samples

It is the sample that runs during the actual production line of the factory. Clothing manufacturers construct with the exact specifications, measurements, embroidery, washed, and other details. It Is the test run by the factory to ensure any discrepancies between the PPS and the approved design, that can help in addressing before the mass production run or minimizing the risk of costly errors.

·         Shipment Samples

Shipment samples are those that represent the finished products. These samples are shipped to the supplier in accordance with the sample. However, they are also used for final quality inspection before shipment to the buyer. They ensure consistency with the approved PPS and any further changes required during the mass production order.

·         Gold Seal Samples (Sealed Samples)

They are the final production samples sealed with the specialized tag for better identification. A unique code is given to each sample by the buyers to differentiate it from the others. They are often used for trade shows, marketing samples, or reference purposes.

Conclusion

In sum, garment samples are more than just the piece of the fabric, they serve as key aspects of successful cloth manufacturing. With the right knowledge of each of the types, clothing manufacturers can easily ensure consistent fit, quality, and smooth delivery of the sample that meets the customer demand.
